Passed away 13th February 2008 Passed away 25th January 2011
One of the saddest days of our lives is the passing of our beloved and treasured English Cocker Spaniel, Storm. Storm passed very quickly, she was with us at din-din's time and then laid down for a sleep. We woke her to go to bed around 11pm and she wandered down to our bedroom to get on her bed. Around 4am she woke us to go to the toilet and when she did she was passing blood. There was no sign of anything wrong with her prior and within an hour she had lost a lot of blood and was white from the blood loss. We decided to take her straight to the vet then and to have any pain or suffering she might be having taken away. The vet was great, she comforted both of us and took extremely good care of Storm. The vet did have trouble trying to find a vein to insert the needle as Stormy had no blood, or very little. Stormy did make a slight yelp as the vet tried to find a vein with the needle but with a minute the vet found a vein and started to inject, she had only injected about 1ml from the syringe and Stormy was gone, and even the vet said that it was her, 'Stormy', time. Storm was a very big part of our lives, she was the greatest four-legged companion I have ever had and loved. She gave us eight wonderful years, was our constant companion, friend. A confident and truly loved pooch, she was more than a pooch she was a member of our family and she will be sadly missed, but always remembered.
'Stormy', really trained us well, she had us cooking special treats, and she always knew when din-din's was. I only had to be in the kitchen and she knew it was time for something spectacular to eat.
One of the things I will miss with her is the playtime we shared. Pictured above with her most loved toy 'Legs'. 'Legs' had stuffing missing, but only from shaking it about so much. 'Legs' had 2 squeaks in it and if you asked her she would make it squeak for you. Storm used 'Legs' to play tug-o-war with and she had the most amazing grip and would never let go, unless you teased her about trying to get her feet, then she would let go, but would jump on you to get it back. As 'Legs' meant so much to Stormy we have had it cremated with her and her ashes will be scattered down the river she loved to swim in. Storm would swim for hours in the river, she would swim downstream with the current then get out and come back up and get in again to swim down, she did this time after time.
Stormy will not only be missed by us but also by her beloved companion 'Cassie'. We bought Cassie when Stormy was 3 years old, as a companion for her. Although they had both had their ups and downs like any kids, they loved each other and always cuddled up together. Cassie constantly followed Stormy around and is now lost without her.
Stormy travelled with us around a lot of Australia and went to many places that she shouldn't have. She loved to swim and took any opportunity to do so. We moved to New Zealand in 2005, bringing both Storm and Cassie with us. Storm got a new lease of life when we moved to NZ. She became more active and she loved the cooler weather. Storm did have her fair share of ill health in her early years as she was born with no socket on her hips, but after visiting the surgeon, she adapted and dealt with her condition well, you would never know she had bad hips if you didn't know. She had no fear of anything, and even at the end she knew that she was dying by the look on her face, but she still tried to go outside to go wee's. Her ride to the vet was comfortable for her, she managed to hang out the window of the car for a little while and smell the ocean she loved.
This story sounds appropriate for here.
The Rainbow Bridge
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there
is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes
when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes from the group are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group.
You have been seen, and when you and your friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you
look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated again.
Love for always Stormy, you will never be forgotten, and we will see you again.

Sadly to say but our Cassie passed away this morning. She died from peritonitis, but she was not in pain. Cassie was in surgery and the infection had been found and cleaned but sadly she was not strong enough to recover.
Even though Cassie was not well she still managed to play with her ball and jump up on the chair for a cuddle. Her little companion Abbey is missing her badly, she is lost and doesn't know what to do with herself.
